We aim to make this program an affordable choice, while also raising enough funds to pay our artistic staff and perpetuate the company into the future. Currently, our 2017 tuition is a flat rate of $400 (payable in installments). Each singer can offset their tuition through ticket and program ad sales. For reference, $400 buys 27 tickets or 6 half-page program ads.
Some scholarships will be available.
[Check with your accountant: Tuition may count as a qualified music business expense.]
WHAT DO I GET?
For the classical singer, gaining performance experience, let alone auditioning, can get expensive. We understand that and want to offer alternatives close to home! The DOC is run by singers with advanced degrees in vocal performance who know that summer opera festivals can cost upwards of $2500 before room, board, and travel. We truly believe that what we can offer you for $400 is a value. You will get:
- up to 5 performances with professional musicians
- musical and acting coaching
- experienced directors and pianists
We currently seek sponsorship with local businesses. Please see our FAQ page for more details on our ideas for fundraising and our budget.
